Our Goals…

Immediate
1. To educate our club members on the mission and vision of our club (Accomplishing)
2. To continually recruit new members (Accomplishing)
3. To develop and marketing plan for both our club and the Amateur Radio hobby in general.
4. To make adjustments on the repeater as necessary.

Six Months
1. To finalize all work for the club repeater and related equipment in order to maintain the repeater on the air at all times. (Accomplished)
2. To create and maintain a database of area Amateurs and clubs.
3. To implement the marketing plan
4. To create and begin “Amateur Radio Forums” to be held at the university semi-annually or at other said time-frame.
5. To outreach to area youth through public schools and scouting programs.
6. To begin saturating the amateur populous with the June "Swap-Fest" information.
7. MECC set-up and fielding.

One Year (2005)
1. Outreach to other Amateur Radio Operators in area counties

Three Years
1. To have significantly improved, and well established, the “FHUARC Swap-Fest.” (Accomplishing)
2. To have solidified our club in such a way as to be one of the best and most recognized clubs in the region/southeast. (Working on it)

 
Our History…

Established in April 2002, the Freed-Hardeman University Amateur Radio Club began with an organizational meeting in Gano Dining Hall on campus among several interested hams in and around the Henderson/Chester County area. In order for the club to get on its feet and become established, temporary officers were appointed to serve as the club’s new leadership. They were: President – Tom Childers (WA5ZVZ); Vice President Kevin Roeder (KU4RT); Secretary – Joe Loucka (AG4QC); Treasurer – Ron Means (W5DAT).

A club Constitution and By-Laws were written and adopted by club members in June of 2002. Officer elections were held that September to establish a legally elected leadership for the club. All existing officers were “officially” elected to hold their current positions.
It was later established that officer elections would be held in June of each year, and that the club’s fiscal year for membership dues would run June to June.

Later in the year, the club applied for and was issued the club call of W4FHU. A short period of time later, the club applied for and became an ARRL Affiliated Club.

Today, club members can enjoy attending regular monthly meetings and taking advantage of a variety of special events and projects the club plans or sponsors.
