FHUARC Meeting
November 11, 2004
Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order by Ron, W5DAT, at 7:15 PM, at the meeting room of
Henderson City Hall.

In attendance were: Ron, W5DAT; Beverly, KG4WKI; Ronald, KG4WKJ; Mickey,
KI4DTQ; Mike, K4TC; Barry, KI4DJX; Richard, W4KRU; Martha, KA4AHS; Rick,
KE4ETI;, James, KC4UFZ; Joe, AG4QC; and Dan, W1LSU.

There were 22 in attendance during the last meeting, that received training
as Weather Spotters. The National Weather Service of Memphis provided the
training.

There will be a VE test session on December 6, 2004, at 7:00 PM, at the
Henderson City Hall meeting room where the Club meetings are normally held.
Ron, W5DAT, has two or three from his ham class that is going to take the
test. We were wondering if there was any formal coordination with the
Jackson Radio Club as to VE sessions, to facilitate exam sessions for timely
exams for those wanting them. No information available at this time.

Work day scheduled at F-HU to do some antenna/cable/rotator repair, for the
ham systems antennas atop the Gardner Center. Date is Saturday, November
20, at 8:00 AM. Will take approximately two hours. In case of rain,
re-sked to Monday, November 22, at 3:00 PM. Need to do repairs, and mount 2
meter antenna on another mast, as well as a 440 antenna.

Brief discussion on antenna/tower/money left by John, KJ4CA, for the Club.
Discussion put on hold for later consideration.

The exercise for the LEPC, possibly in December, is still in the planning
stage. It will combine with a BEOP (Basic Emergency Operations Plan) for
validation exercise of the new BEOP for Chester County, and will be quite
involved. (Although not mentioned in the Club meeting, it is planned to add
an amateur radio 2 meter base station at the dispatch point at the Sheriff's
Dept. to augment ARES/RACES commo. More on this later.).

A change of meeting date was discussed and implemented. The new meeting
date, starting in January, 2005, will be on the THIRD THURSDAY of each
month. Motion made by Beverly, KG4WKI, seconded by Barry, KI4DJX. Motion
carried unanimously. The third Thursday in January, 2005, will be Jan 20.
The time and location are unchanged.

The next Club meeting will be the Christmas dinner, on December 9, at 6:00
PM, at Rose's Restaurant. A buffet will be set up for us at the meeting
room at the restaurant, as agreed upon by the Club members.

An interesting and informative video on Amateur Radio Fast Scan Television
was presented by Ron. Amateur TV has made great strides in the last few
years. New, compact, reasonably-priced equipment is available now. This
technology could be of considerable utility for disaster/emergency
applications at a mobile command post to EOC, etc.

Meeting adjourned.
