wiring. All members need to provide their
pine cone/s and 9 volt battery. Joe will
provide the LED's and wiring. These
ornaments will be used for decor at the December
club meeting, which will our annual Christmas
dinner. The Christmas dinner will be pot luck.
Joe Loucka has been working many hours on the
new 147.105 W4FHU repeater. There
needs to be some lightning/surge protection work
done to help minimize lightning damage.
Maintaining a repeater is on-going, and takes
much skillful attention. Joe has put many
hours making the new repeater useable and
functional. Many thanks, Joe.
Joe made a presentation on items that he has
built over the years, and tonight his topic was
the grid dip meter, and in the the solid-state
era, it is called the dip meter. A dip
meter has many uses, and can be used as a basic
signal generator, and to tune home-brew tuned
circuits, and especially useful for tuning
antennas to resonance. A very interesting
presentation for both new ham operators as well
as for the more seasoned amateur ops.
Richard England brought his Ten Tec QRP 40 meter
transceiver. The little rig's output is
approximately 4 watts, and is very portable.
This little cw transceiver, along with a small
antenna tuner, and home-brew power supply pack
of 8 D cells, and rolled-up antenna can easily
be placed in a tackle box, and carried camping,
etc., or about anywhere you would want.
Richard also demonstrated a very compact 40
meter antenna. Consists of two Hustle
mobile antenna resonators on a home-brew center
mount. Very compact for 40 meters!
Meeting adjourned at 8:10 PM.
