August 20, 2009
Chester County Amateur Radio Club
Meeting Minutes
Meeting opened by President Joe
Loucka at 7:00 PM. In attendance: Joe and Sue Loucka,
Thad Williams, Jimmy Helvering, John Adams, Mike and
Louise Burkhead, Ron Means, Gary Roeder, Barry Smith,
Richard England, and Joe Newton. Some discussion on the
Swapfest, that is coming up on Oct. 3, 2009, at the
Activities Building of the Henderson Church of Christ,
at corner of Second St. and White Ave. in Henderson.
Swapfest is occurring during the 31st. (I believe)
Annual Chester County Barbecue Festival. The night's
project was to commence the construction of the
universal digital mode interface. An interest in PSK-31
mode inspired Pres. Joe to draw up plans, and to offer
kits to the club members. Joe came up with all the
parts and made up the schematic and instructions for us
to follow to end up successfully with a functional
interface! And, they are being built on "perf
board"!!! Fine, easy way to homebrew! Thanks, Joe!
Another note on the Swapfest: the Volunteer Examiners in
the Club will be offering a VE test session to anyone
who would like to take an amateur radio exam. Exams
will start at11:00 AM. Kevin, KU4RT, is starting a
Technician Class license course on September 3, to run
for 10 weeks. Lessons will be taught 6:30 PM to 9:30
PM, on Thursday nights. I believe the tentative
location for the classes is the Henderson Fire Station
#1. September meeting is a "meet and eat" meeting, and
will be on September 17, 2009, at 7:00 PM, at the
Henderson Church of Christ.
Meeting adjourned.
