Chester County Amateur
Radio Club
Meeting Minutes
July 21, 2011
The meeting was called to
order at 7:00 P.M. by President Richard (Dick)
Heismann. In attendance were Lauralei Russell,
Eugene Branscum, Richard Heismann and Sue and Joe
Loucka.
Dick reported that Field
Day was the best we’ve had so far with several club
member in attendance, the presence of the Ares bus
and several visitors who stopped by.
Also we had a successful VE
testing on June 30th resulting in three
new hams.
It was discussed that the
Club By-laws and Constitution are out-dated and need
to be rewritten for presentation to the club
membership for confirmation.
It was agreed to go forward
with the application for a tax ID number in order to
change the name on the club bank account from the
FHU Amateur Radio Club to the Chester County Amateur
Radio Club.
The Huntsville Hamfest will
take place on August 20th and 21st.
We discussed the possibility of getting a carpool
together to attend.
A Fox Hunt has been
tentatively scheduled for Saturday, October 22.
Further discussion is scheduled to decide whether to
offer a prize for the winner.
The program at the next
meeting, August 18th will be Frequency
Measurements with Simple Tools.
September’s meeting we will
build a tape-measure direction finder for use at the
Fox Hunt.
At October’s meeting will
be on how to use what we’ve built.
Joe Loucka led us through a
very interesting program of how to use a multi-meter
for trouble shooting. We all had our own meters and
were able to test resistors and capacitors as well
as learn how to test for continuity.
