FHUARC meeting at 6:30 PM at the Gene Record Henderson City Park on 6-16-05
Attending:
Kevin and Holly Roeder (and their son Gary), Joe and Sue Loucka, Mike and Louise Burkhead, Ron and Ronald Means, Bill Baldy, John Adams, and Richard and Martha England.
It was announced that Jean Smith, wife of KI4DJX (Barry Smith), is
scheduled to have surgery tomorrow. We need to keep her in our
prayers.
Kevin gave a report of the Swap Fest. More people registered this
year than last. The concessions stand made a small profit this year
which is better than losing money. The Cedar City Sales people who
donated the various prizes, were pleased with their sales and plan
to be back next year as long as our schedule does not conflict with
another Ham Fest they normally attend.
The Tech License class being taught by Joe Loucka is off to a good
start. There were six students who are trying to get their ticket,
one General Class student who accompanied his son but also wants to
do the review, plus Joe and Richard Sr. There have been five more
students who have planned on being in the class next Tuesday, June
21. The class meets in the building of the church of Christ at
Pinson. Any one who wishes to attend is welcome to do so.
Plans were discussed for agendas for the coming club meetings. If
you have any ideas and suggestions, get in touch with Kevin.
Joe Loucka reported on the “kit building project.” He has assembled
some sample kits from Ramsey and TennTech and has not made a final
decision on either of them. Anyone with ideas on what would be a
good kit building project, contact Joe and discuss it with him.
Field Day (June 25) was discussed. It will be held at Pavilion #3 at
Chickasaw State Park. There will be signs giving directions to the
site. If you know where the Park Office is and where the Lodge is,
all you have to do to get to the site is turn right on the road
between those two places. It is down the hill at the big pavilion on
the lake. The actual operation begins at 1:00 PM. As far as
equipment is concerned, Joe will being APRS and computer, Kevin will
being a low band rig and a G5RV antenna. Mike will bring the power
generator. Many will bring handi-talkies, etc.
There will be a Pot Luck meal in the evening. Various ones volunteered to bring food.
Bill Baldy cooked hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill. There was
plenty of other food to fill out the evening menu.
A good time was had by all.
Richard England, Sr.
Secretary, FHUARC
