Chester County Amateur Radio Club
Meeting Minutes
21 May 2009

President Ron Means opened meeting at 7:00 PM. This was an "eating meeting", with lots of fine food available. First order of business was new elections. The new Club officers are: President, Joe Loucka; Vice President, Louise Burkhead; Treasurer, Barry Smith; Secretary, Mike Burkhead.

The Swapfest will be held the first weekend of October, at the Henderson Church of Christ Activities Building, to coincide with the Chester County Barbecue Festival. A "Swapfest Committee" was selected to plan and promote the "Fest". They are: John Adams, Thad Williams, Ron Means, Tom Childers, and Jim Helvering. Mr. John Adams will be the coordinator for the Committee.

Field Day is coming up on the last weekend of June. The Club decided to try Chickasaw State Park again this year, if the selected pavilion is available. Barry will call Chickasaw Park to check on the availability of the pavilion by the lake, down below the restaurant. Sue and Louise will coordinate the food. Ron will coordinate the equipment needs.

There will be a VE test session at Pinson Church of Christ on Saturday, May 23, at 0900.

President-elect Joe Loucka proposed home-brewing some Christmas decoration/ornaments using LED's, as well as some other home-brew projects for the upcoming year. Maybe some practical demonstrations of some digital modes, like PSK-31, slow-scan tv, etc.

Club decided to schedule another Severe Weather Spotter's Class for the month of October, 2009, if possible. Mike Burkhead will check with the National Weather Service to schedule this training.

Meeting adjourned.
Mike Burkhead, K4TC
