Attending: Tom Rogers, Thad Williams, Jim Helvering, Joe Newton, John Adams, Joe Loucka, Sue Loucka, Mike Burkhead, Louise Burkhead, Mickey Burkhead, Ron Means, Dexel Burns, Barry Smith, Dan Crump, Martha England and Richard England.

There being no other officer at the meeting when it came time to begin, Richard England called the meeting to order and asked for any business that needed to be discussed. The following items were mentioned:

1. Field Day is June 24. The same pavilion we had last year at Chickasaw State Park has been reserved.

2. The FHUARC Ham Fest will be June 2 and 3. So far, there have been commitments from three dealers to be here. They are Cedar City Sales, Memphis Amateur Radio Electronics and BWD of Bruceton TN. The location of the Ham Fest will be at the Athletic Center of FHU as it was last year.

On Friday the 2nd the doors will be opened at noon in order for the dealers to get set up. The actual festivities will begin at 5:00 PM and last until 8:00 PM. There will be a BarBQ available and some time later in the evening there will be a session of “Pickin’ and Grinin’” if we can get the various groups to come. Anyone who wants to bring their guitar (or whatever) and participate can do so.

Saturday the 3rd the doors will open to the public at 8:30 AM and activities will continue until 2:00 PM. There will be a testing session provided at 9:00 AM for any who wish to take a license exam for any level of license.

For both days, there is a need for helpers to assist the dealers if they want help, helpers to work at the registration table, man the “talk in” station and help with the concession stand. There will be forms available at the registration table to sign up for membership in the club.

3. Volunteers are needed to call the ARES net in May. Barry Smith said he would do it the first three weeks and John Adams said he would do it the last two weeks.

4. THE CLUB MEETING ON MAY 18 WILL BE AT BARRY SMITH’S HOUSE located at 898 White Avenue here in Henderson. If you need to call him, his phone number is 989-2362. This will be an eat’n meet’n. The eating will begin as soon after 6:30 PM as feasible. Be sure to BYOLC (bring your own lawn chair). In case of bad weather, check with Barry or Richard England (989-7670) to find out what the last minute plans might be.

5. There will be a VE test session at 9:00 AM, Saturday, April 22 at the City Hall.

6. The bus has a new A/C and power supply installed.

7. Joe Loucka presented a very interesting session on capacitors and how they work.

Everyone enjoyed the evening. The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 PM.
