Chester County Amateur Radio Club
Meeting Minutes
January 21, 2013

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by President Richard (Dick) Heismann. In attendance were Bobby Rein, Don Taylor, Tom Childers, Scott Edwards, Tim Clark, Sue and Joe Loucka and visitors Richard Smith KI4PWM, Randy Smith KI4OAS, Philip Julian KG4NVN, Tom Goodman AI4DB, and Greg Flannagan N4GMF.

Sue read the minutes from the last meeting and the Treasurer’s Report.

Old business: Joe gave us a report on the status of echolink. He said that he’s been having problems because of the tone squelch but he hopes to have it up and running in the next couple of weeks.

New business: Our next meeting is April 15, 2013.

Field Day will be June 22 and 23. We need to start thinking about what we’re going to do.

Dick said that we need to do something to invigorate the club and is looking for suggestions.

Joe offered to do a presentation at the April meeting on LT Spice, software used to do circuitry testing. 

Randy Smith, ARRL Section Emergency Coordinator, gave an interesting talk on what ARES is, how it works and its goals. He talked about being prepared to be activated in case of an emergency, what a Go Kit is and what should be included. He urged everyone to complete and submit an ARES application. 

The meeting was adjourned at 8:45.
