Chester County Amateur Radio Club
Meeting Minutes
January 19th, 2012

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by President Richard (Dick) Heismann. In attendance were Richard and Martha England, Joe Newton, Don Taylor, Scott Edwards, James Webb, Darlene and Jimmy Collins, and Sue and Joe Loucka.

Dick started the meeting by stating that interest in the club has been waning. Attendance is low, there is a lack of participation and he questioned whether we should shut down the club or put it on hiatus for a period of time. Then he opened the meeting to discussion of our options for the future of the club. Richard England suggested we hold quarterly meetings. Joe pointed out that in order to continue to offer VE Testing the club needs to remain in operation. Sue reported that she’d checked with the bank and that inactivity on the account would not incur fees that would eat away at our treasury. There was some discussion as to the day of our meetings. Some members report work and other conflicts with Thurday meetings.

After much discussion it was decided to try quarterly meetings and to change the meetings to the 3rd Monday of each quarter.

The next meeting will be an eating meeting on April 16th at 6:00 at the Pinson Church of Christ. The club will purchase the meat. Everyone is asked to bring a dish to pass. Sue said she would post it to the mailing list.

Sue brought up the fact that our elections are usually held at the May meeting with the new officers taking over the first of June. It was decided that since there would be no meeting in May to hold off on the elections until the  July 16th meeting.

Joe stated that he wanted to build an upgraded interface for the repeater. The one currently in use is a temporary prototype that he installed over a year ago. Cost of the upgrade would be between $50 and $100. He also said that he would like to purchase a back-up battery for the repeater at a cost of $20. Don Taylor motioned to accept Joe’s offers, Richard England seconded and the motion was passed.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:21pm.
