Meeting Minutes
September 16, 2013

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 by President Dick Heismann.

The minutes of the August meeting and the Treasurer Report were read and approved.

Not much progress has been made towards getting a program together for the October meeting. The Facebook page is in progress. Sue will post on the email list when it is ready. We haven’t heard anything about setting up an informational table at the EMA trailer and will probably just put some brochures out at Don Taylor’s table.

It was brought to our attention that we need to hold at least one testing session per quarter in order to remain in good standing with the ARRL. Since most clubs hold their sessions at the beginning of the quarter Joe Loucka proposed that we schedule a test on a Saturday in the second month of the quarter. He will post the schedule on the website and also post the dates on the ARRL website.

Dick attended an AUXCOM class. It’s a system for sending emails via packet on HF. He wants to talk to the FEMA Director about the possibility of getting TNC. There was interest in getting someone to come and give us a presentation.

It was decided that there will be a Technician Class beginning in January, on Thursday nights lasting ten weeks. The exact start date and the cost of the class will be announced later.

Our thanks to Kevin Roeder who gave a very interesting and informative presentation on Building Your Tower.
