Chester County Amateur
Radio Club
Meeting Minutes
December 16, 2013
The club met at 6:00 for a
Christmas Potluck which consisted of barbeque
purchased by the club and delicious dishes and
desserts provided by the members. We were pleased to
have members and their families join us for our
holiday get together.
After enjoying our
Christmas potluck, President Dick Heismann called
the meeting to order.
In order to generate
interest in our upcoming Technician class, an ad
announcing the information was placed in the Chester
County Independent and flyers were put in stores.
The class is scheduled to begin on January 9th
and will continue for 10 weeks. Anyone interested in
the class must have their money in or at least make
their intensions to attend the class known by
January 2nd so we can buy the books.
Joe Loucka said that he’d
talked to Kevin Roeder about putting up an antenna
at the firehouse to aid in presentations. The Fire
Department needs an HF antenna but has rules about
what can be put up. It was estimated that it would
cost the club about $400 for the 500+ feet of coax
we need.
Ron Means has been the club
liaison with FHU for any repeater issues but since
he is no longer with the university, Dick talked to
Barry Smith who promised to talk to the VP on our
behalf.
Future projects were
discussed including a tailgate flea market and a fox
hunt ( hidden transmitter ) in April or May when the
weather is better. We decided to make directional
antennas at the February meeting. Anyone interested
in making one should bring $20 for supplies to the
January meeting.
A motion to adjourn was
made at 7:32.
